Experience so Far…

This journey for me has affected my perceptions of the world and I am learning so much that I had never known before. To exist in a world with so many opportunities, it’s amazing that we get the chance at our age to make such a change. All of the ideas that are spoken are so powerful it’s mind-blowing how talented everyone is. I think that we complement each other when engaging in a conversation and accept what everyone says because we truly all believe in the same thing in the end. I find that a very close bond is building in our team I can’t see it ending even after the completion of this project. Everyone has different outlooks on the world and may have different viewpoints on certain problems, but each one of us has purpose to being where we are now.
I always question why certain problems are even evident in the world, resembling that if more people thought about these issues and wanted to learn, instead of ignoring and not giving any thought maybe some of them would be solved. This program for me has helped to understand the issues and all of the surrounding factors that stop from proceeding to solve these issues. It has also shown me how many people my age want to help and have concerns about the world.
October 21st 2009, was when we had the social justice exploration. This was an incredible day for me because we were able to give our thoughts on how we felt about certain issues and how they are being handled. After this session finished, on the drive home with my mom, I couldn’t stop talking about all that had happened and everything that I had learned. I‘m not exactly sure why speaking in front of large groups is a struggle for me but one of my goals in the next few weeks is to make more attempts and to speak my mind.
I hope to explore and make an impact on others in addition to gaining that impact on myself and having more strength. This program is going to help guide me in the right direction to help as many people as possible in a world with such a growing economy.
