One Can Always Be Hopeful

With our final event closely approaching, we have begun to make announcements and sell tickets in our school. So at lunch when we were sitting behind a table with a stack of tickets it front of us, I watched what to me seemed like hundreds of students pass by. Some people would stop to see what we were doing and ask questions about the event, while others would glance at us and continue walking, but I would say that the majority of the people would avoid eye contact as they passed, as if they couldn’t be bothered. Even when people stopped and talked with us there was a reoccurring theme of telling us “I might come, but I’ll have to see if I’m busy then.” which as far as I can tell were just politely saying no.
I’m not sure if some people just don’t care or whether the small amount of tickets we sold was just a result of a whole bunch of variables that we could not have planned for nor done anything about. For now I think that as the week progresses word about the event will spread and more and more people will want to come. But hopefully more and more people will care. One can always be hopeful!
