I’ll Watch Them Grow

On April 24th, I was anxiously checking my phone for updates while packing boxes at my Montreal apartment. One of the most exciting parts of this program, Reach Lesotho, is how we are engaging with the community. On April 24th, not only were we working in partnership with Rotarians, but over a hundred friends of Reach Lesotho joined to volunteer as well.
I couldn’t help but to wish I was in Guelph that morning, dirtying my knees and receiving my “I Have Hope” tote-bag. Within a couple of days, the students and mentors uploaded pictures and I was absolutely thrilled with what I heard about the event. I told a close friend about the initiative and how I missed it, but he only laughed. I didn’t understand why until he said, “You’ll watch them grow.”
I’m not entirely sure whether he meant the trees or the students, but I couldn’t help but to smile. The great thing about this event was that even if somebody missed it, they didn’t miss it. I have every intention of visiting those trees when I get a chance, just to say thank you for bringing our community together.

By creating the even and posting you were there Abid. Like all good things…trees are better when shared…a green legacy was planted in Guelph and will be transplanted, literaly and figuratively, in Lesotho!
